[tetchi]‘s first live outing was in the Summer of 2003, at an event they helped organise as part of Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, Electronica-fest. At that point they were a purely-electronic two-piece band. Later that Summer they were spotted playing by a drummer, hankering for something new, and thus started something of a habit in acquiring new members.
Since then they’ve been morphed and merged through various incarnations, including a spell with a flautist and percussionist, some gigs with a renowned bagpipe playing folkster, tinkering with various live combinations and finally settling on the tried and tested, hallowed ground of the four piece with live bass, drums and various keyboards, squidges and laptop madness. Add to this the ability to move seamlessly between lazy Sunday afternoon chill out and full on Friday night mash up and you have an inkling into their versatile live potential.
Various combinations of [tetchi] have played gigs at established club nights in the North of England like Cabbage (Leeds), Kulu (Bradford), Sunrise (Manchester) and crossover club/festy newcomers, The Mental Elf Collective (Hebden Bridge). As well as indoor gigs they’ve also entertained at various summer festivals and events like Glastonbury, Solfest, Knockengorroch, and 2006 saw them headlining at Beat-herder and The Northern Green Gathering.
Since then the guys, while concentrating heavily on making the tunes more accessible to the live arena, carried on from the previous years good work spreading the [tetchi] word through some memorable live appearances which have sent a buzz of excitement rippling through the psytrance forum pages.
Their aim of pushing the live side of the [tetchi] experience has continued to evolve through collaborations with VJ artists Magic Lantern, and Celluloid Disco especially, whose quirky visual endeavors add a unique live visual/audio twist to their performances and with whose input has helped turn party rooms and festival sites into soothing but swinging social spaces worthy of any psychedelic or communal event.
